Located in one of San Francisco’s more dense urban neighborhoods, the design of this residence was inspired in part by a desire to maximize the amount of natural light while ensuring a level of privacy. Local zoning setbacks helped to accentuate a vertical shift in the massing, allowing both the two-story glass facades and the roofs to clearly express this division through a series of gentle undulations each at play against the other. Interior courts and skywells also serve to provide even greater access to natural sunlight and ventilation.
